My Apologies to Newsvine

I am making an apology to all of Newsvine for my behavior over the past few days.  My column and commenting has been giving me a lot of trouble to the point of total frustration.   I wrote an article yesterday about some of the issues I was having to let everyone know about it.

I also would like to apologize to anyone who received a comment with the signature of Pon and Grisham or any other signature in one of their articles.

Since I tend to visit Grisham's column rather frequently as he writes some very interesting articles and is easy to understand, I noticed one of his articles was having quite a bit of activity on it, some of it getting out of hand.  Usually Grisham is on top of his column, so I thought since the article was getting out of control that someone should control it.  We are talking about an article with 800+ comments in it.  I decided to take control of it.  Then I found out his father died, so I continued to control the article the best I could since Grisham still was not involved in it.  Not thinking about it, I was using the signature of Pon and Grisham.  Unfortunately, I continued to use this signature when I was outside of Grisham's article.  Nothing was meant by it and the only excuse I have is stupidity.  I do not feel I was out of hand attempting to control an article with so many comments and basically no one attending to it.  Maybe it was a mistake on my part, but I was trying to help him out.  There were some good comments in it that I thought probably should not be ignored.

Grisham, I apologize to you for attempting to control your article without your consent and for using your name with mine.  There was nothing meant by it.  Once in a while, I do things spontaneously without thinking about what the repercussions will be.  I just do it.  I was not trying to step on your toes; just trying to be helpful.

Hi Vlad's dog

I do not think Grisham saw it that way, but that is the way life is. I took it upon myself to be responsible for something that I was not asked to do and then screwed it up along the way. Sometimes I step out of my comfort zone and take a chance on something, but then it is seen completely opposite of what I intended. Thank you for your kinds words, though. They are much appreciated.

Ha! Story of my life. Grisham's good people, you had good intentions, Grisham says "no worries" below, so it appears to be all good. Hats off to making it right though.

You did a good job moderating Grishans' article in his absence. Thank you.

Hi deepwater don

I did not know that I was moderating the column. It was just out of control and needed to be handled with 800+ comments and the craziness that swirling around it.

Thank you.

Pon- You sound like you really did have the best intentions... it just wasn't the right thing to do. I respect your heart felt apology and wish you well. The vine can be an unforgiving place but your true friends will come with kindness and understanding in their hearts.

Pon,

There is nothing to forgive. Thank you for helping me out in my time of need. Mistakes happen (with the sig on other articles) and I totally understand. No hard feelings whatsoever on my part. :)

Grish- I don't know what it is about your articles that causes folks to pick up their religous paraphenalia and start swinging (Perhaps they become uncomfortable from having to think that much) but I am a big fan of your work.

Ps- Unlike Pon there is no way I would ever consider trying to get in the middle of the fracas like that.

Thanks, JJ. Coming from such a great Viner as yourself, that means a lot to me.

I'm glad you saw what I was attempting to do. Time to put this behind me.

Indeed, Pon. Don't give it another thought. :)

Hey Pon,

Good grief I take a break and look what happens! lol There are no mistakes when we learn from them. I don't really know what all has gone on, but if you say you are sorry for something, I take your word for it. Nice letter, that is more than some would do.

Look in the rear view mirror and leave it behind! ;-)

Pon,

I looked over this in the morning and waited until this evening to review the thread where you intervened. I really think you meant well and in the automation of signing came across differently that you perhaps intended. I think your apology was sincere and in order. Saying "we" when "I" is all that is warranted is a pretty scary thing and, as I as sure you are aware now, to be done with some explicit understanding with who you meant to include. I make mistakes similar to this daily, It seems like a standing apology is in order! In a forum where our words is all that we have to define ourselves, I try to err on the side of silence over assuming who someone wants to us to interpret their words. Or to at least state what I think was meant and ask for clarification. Yeah, I guess I do that even if I knew that their was extenuating circumstance. I think you know a lot of this already. You sincere apology has allowed for others, including myself, to say their piece. On that count, you are sincerely commended.

I wasn't attempting to draw out conversation, just wanted to get everyone back into what the article was about so that any new commenters didn't fall into the same discussion of the multiple comments that had nothing to do with the article.

Thank you for letting me know your thoughts. Pon

Yeah, see what happens when you disappear? How dare you take a break? (haHa). You weren't around to keep me out of trouble.

Look in the rear view mirror and leave it behind!

It's left. Good to see you back again. Pon

Pon,

I don't really follow your comment. What I meant most importantly was that I think you've done the right thing here.

Hi DisplayName0

Sorry for misinterpreting your comment. I thought you were telling me that instead of making the comments I made that I should get clarification first before making my comment.

Thank you for acknowledging my apology. I was hoping it was the right thing to do. I didn't know any other way of doing it. Pon

Dear Friend PonGoad: It speaks well of your fine character that you choose to make a public apology. Not everyone does that.

As a Charter Member of Chaplains Corner, you may want to read some of the articles from our archives that touch on this topic.

"Why Give A Second Chance" co-authored with our good friend Grisham.

"Value and Methods of Atonement" co-authored with our good friend Hiram.

"Four Values of Repentance". Enoch.

Hopefully, you will consider gracing our group with your own thoughts on such topics.

We would profit from reading them.

Peace and Blessings. Enoch.
